MMC helps locally during COVID

In mid March COVID-19 had arrived in Calgary, and with that life in Alberta came to a halt. Our favourite places to shop had closed, Our restaurants became take out only or closed, and there was much uncertainty among us during these trying times.

MMC however decided to be a leader at this point and provide the support they do internationally, right here at home. With the supplies in the warehouse, MMC was able to send PPE to agencies across our city to aid in the early days of the Pandemic. This included nearly 40,000 surgical masks to agencies that urgently needed them, along with hundreds of sterile/exam gloves, and many isolation gowns. With the PPE that MMC had supplied to these agencies, they were able to continue in their efforts to help individuals and groups who have lived in experience with homelessness, disabilities, and other health and welfare challenges.

While MMC did focus a lot of their efforts on helping out locally, that didn't mean they stopped with their international efforts. MMC was still able to send over thousands of surgical masks and sterile/exam gloves, along with hundreds of isolation gowns to the projects in Ukraine right before the pandemic hit there. Not only that but MMC was also able to aquire a Sea-Can to send over medical beds and other supplies to Ukraine as well.

MMC extands a huge thank you to all the donors and volunteers who helped make all of this possible. This shows the power of when a community can stand together during hard times to help each other out.
