Introducing our new Doctor at MMC’s Champhai Clinic near the India/Myanmar border, Dr. Chonglian. However, Dr. Chonglian is not new to helping Burmese Chin refugees, having helped MMC do medical clinics at many of our village outpost clinics several years back. He brings 15 years of medical and homeopathic experience.
We are especially excited with his very innovative approach to effectively treating Malaria patients. Due to the complexities and severity of Malaria, the cost of treating it at our Champhai Clinic is about 1000 Rupee or about $20 Cdn. However, Our treatment protocol is about ½ the cost of conventional Malaria treatments, for about one half the cost of conventional treatments while having better success statistics. Dr. Chonglian sees well over 1000 Malaria patients each summer during the rainy season. Children and the elderly are generally the most severally affected, though this devastating disease knows no boundaries. His treatments are potentially saving many lives who may otherwise not be able to afford it. In addition to the saving of lives, patients are able to return to school, work and caring for their families quicker and with fewer re-occurrences than would otherwise be possible enabling them to lead more productive and better lives. Without MMC financial assistance these clinics would not exist and these people would often not have the resources to be able to travel to clinics in other communities or the financial resources to afford the treatments. For every $100 donation you make you will have the opportunity to treat 5 patients potentially saving the life of a child or adult who is stricken with this terrible disease.
Dr. Chonglian is a welcome addition to our medical team along the Inida/Myanmar border. He personally attends to over 7,000 patients each year and his experience and knowledge is valued asset for our young medical team.
The displaced Chin people along the India/Myanmar border appreciate your generous support.
